All About Housing

Join for the first in a series of meetings throughout the county to introduce the Housing Element update – a once-in-a-decade chance to shape the future of our communities.

There will be four countywide meetings, with an introduction about the update process, then time to talk with your city or town. This meeting will include Burlingame, East Palo Alto, Hillsborough, Millbrae, and San Mateo City. The other cities and town will join Meetings 2, 3 and 4.

The more people that are heard from, the better plans for the future of housing will reflect what is actually needed. Your voice—along with the voices of your neighbors, our workforce and our young people—are critical to ensure we have housing that meets all our needs. Join us to learn more about this process and how you can participate.

This is an introductory meeting, meant for everyone, including people who are learning about this planning process for the first time. To join a separate meeting that will provide a more in-depth discussion about RHNA allocations related to this Housing Element update, register for the Let’s Talk Housing: All About RHNA meeting coming up in April. Atherton Library - Express Services

Atherton Library and San Mateo County Libraries are thrilled to expand hours and welcome community members back with limited in-library services beginning Thursday, April 22.

The decision to allow modified in-library service, follows months of planning and San Mateo County’s move to the “Orange Tier” of California’s coronavirus tier system. Limited in-library, or Express Service is the next step in a carefully, phased approach to reinstituting library offerings and access, and follows a variety of guidelines outlined by safety experts and mandated by local and state regulations.

Starting the week of April 19, the Atherton Library will expand hours and begin in-library, Express Service while also continuing to offer popular curbside services. Express Service will be available 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and include in-library browsing, Wi-Fi access, and computer and printer access.

Express Service has been planned with thoughtful care and safety precautions. While utilizing in-library services, patrons will be required to wear masks and abide by physical distancing guidelines. Building capacity and seating will be limited and the Library will close midday for high-touch surface cleaning. So that everyone can enjoy the Library, community members are encouraged to limit visits to 60 minutes.

For community members who prefer a contact-free experience, curbside services, which include holds pickup, printing, and no-appointment walk-up service, will continue to be available on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Additionally, the Library’s beloved programs and events will continue in a virtual setting.

“Although we are exceptionally proud of our new curbside and virtual services, welcoming patrons back to in-library services will be a happy moment for all of us,” said Anne-Marie Despain, Library Director.

 Letter from Holbrook-Palmer Park Foundation

Park lovers and Town residents,

Did you know that the Holbrook Palmer Park Foundation participates in planning and funding some of the improvements and activities in the Park? We have created the Event Garden  and have installed a new sculpture recently and have been involved in the Easter Egg Hunt and the Christmas Tea, both events which were canceled due to the COVID pandemic but which we hope can return once the “coast is clear.”

The Foundation needs your help.  We are looking for new members, Board participants and donors.  Membership is easy.  Donations are always accepted.  Board members meet regularly (almost monthly) for about 90 minutes.  Becoming a member is easy – there is a link on the Town’s webpage - Click Here.  You can contact us and we will reach out to you and “connect.”

Feel free to contact me directly via email: fmmjrdvm@sbcglobal.net with any questions.

We hope to see you become a Foundation member.

Regards,

Frank Merrill, Jr., DVM
President, Holbrook Palmer Park Foundation
