Prepare for Upcoming Rain

The National Weather Service for the Bay Area is anticipating a big pattern change next week bringing the first widespread precipitation event this wet season.  Moderate to heavy rain over lower elevations and moderate snow for the Sierra. The forecast will change between now & then, but there is increasing confidence for several inches of rain. What can you do now?

Town staff have been diligently crafting an initial draft of Atherton's objective design standards for multifamily housing, informed by valuable community feedback. Your input remains of paramount importance. We are committed to refining these standards further based on your contributions before their formal presentation at an upcoming Commission and Council Meeting.

Holiday Observed - Town Center Offices and Library Closed on November 10

Town Center services including Post Office, Community Development Counter, and Library will be closed on Friday, November 10, 2023 in observance of Veterans Day. Veterans Day is a federal holiday that honors and celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans. The Town is grateful to all our veterans for their sacrifice and dedication to our country.

Normal business hours will resume on Monday, November 13, 2023. For any urgent matters, please contact the Atherton Police Department at (650) 688-6500 or dial 911 for emergencies. Police and Fire services will not be impacted by this holiday.

Learn how to turn your kitchen scraps into gardening gold! Join us for a FREE composting workshop in the Council Chambers on Tuesday, November 14, from 6:00-8:00 PM. This classroom style workshop will give you all the information you need to get started with backyard composting or using a worm bin. Plus, attendees will receive a free bin and a discount on accessories to kick-start their adventures in the garden! Bring your questions to ask our Master Composter Instructors. This course is offered in partnership with the County of San Mateo's Office of Sustainability.

Try a Class with Atherton Arts Foundation this Season

The Atherton Arts Foundation has an incredible line up of classes through the end of the year. Print a silk scarf with botanicals of your choice, try floral arranging, learn how to draw, create a composition with materials and colors from the park, and draw a pomegranate to practice shapes and colors! County Health is recommending that everyone who is eligible get the seasonal flu vaccine and the updated COVID-19 vaccine. Vaccines are available from health care providers and local pharmacies.
