Farewell to Sgt. Krystal Pronske

?? A Fond Farewell and Heartfelt Congratulations ??

Join us in extending our deepest congratulations and best wishes to Sergeant Pronske as she embarks on a new journey. Sergeant Pronske has served our community with distinction since joining the Atherton Police Department since June 2009. She was promoted to Sergeant In 2020, and this week marks her last day with us.

Throughout her career, Sergeant Pronske has worn many hats: Field Training Officer, K9 Handler, Reserve Coordinator, Defensive Tactics Instructor, Lexipol Administrator, and PlanIt Administrator (Police scheduling). Her dedication, expertise, and commitment have left a mark in our department and community. We wish her nothing but success in her future endeavors!

?? Celebrating Our Heroes: Peace Officer of the Year Award ??

We are also proud to announce that Sergeant Taylor and Officer Kumar have been honored with the Peace Officer of the Year Award at the Redwood City Elks Lodge Public Safety Night on June 20, 2024. Their heroic actions on March 19, 2024, during a life-threatening incident exemplify the highest ideals of law enforcement. When responding to a possible drowning, their swift and decisive actions saved a life. Officer Kumar’s immediate administration of CPR and Sergeant Taylor's support upon arrival were crucial until medical personnel took over. Their commitment to duty and thorough investigation into the incident underscore their dedication to the safety and well-being of our community.

Congratulations, Sergeant Taylor and Officer Kumar, on this well-deserved recognition! Your unwavering commitment to preserving life and ensuring our community’s safety is truly commendable. #CommunityHeroes #ThankYou #AthertonPoliceDepartment #PublicSafety #PeaceOfficeroftheYear

San Mateo County - Community Assistance, Recovery and Empowerment (CARE)

CARE Court Launches July 1

The County is launching a new civil CARE Court program for those with serious mental illness get treatment and other services rather than hospitalization or incarceration.

Established by Senate Bill 1338, the Community Assistance, Recovery and Empowerment (CARE) Act connects a person who has untreated schizophrenia or other psychotic disorders with a court-ordered plan for up to 24 months. The plans are managed by a multi-discipline care team.

The CARE Court launches July 1, making San Mateo County among the first in the state to implement it.
