2025 Sustainability Awards

Sustainable San Mateo County will have their 26th year recognizing sustainable champions. This is a great source of pride for cities / towns. If you are aware of an organization or building that deserves recognition for their impact on the environment, climate, affordable housing, transportation or other areas that make San Mateo County more sustainable?

You can nominate them or they can apply for themselves. SSMC will recognize the awardees at its 26th Annual Awards Celebration on April 6, 2025. For more information click here.

Citizens Environmental Council (CEC)

Living Connected to Place

The Citizens Environmental Council (CEC) invites residents to a program called “Living Connected to Place: Why it Matters and How We Can Make It the Norm” on Thursday, November 14, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Burlingame Community Center, 850 Burlingame Ave.

This event will explore how living connected to place strengthens our health and well being as individuals and as a society.

Matt Biggar, Ph.D., a place-based collaboration consultant, researcher and writer will offer guidance on how we can change systems locally and regionally to support living connected to place and advance collective well-being. Admission is free, but pre-registration is required at https://bit.ly/ConnectedtoPlace.

The City Council has adopted the 2023-2031 Housing Element and Zoning Code Updates! The revised Housing Element includes direction from Atherton City Council’s October 16, 2024, adoption hearing. Changes include revised figures under the SB-9 analysis, a revised Table HE – 24, a revised Program 3.846 (A), and clean-up of minor typos and other issues. To read all of the documents click here.
